I don’t know about you but every once in a while I love seeing a good Girl Fight..;-) Well Twitter has set the stage for one of the best ever. Lady Gaga (@ladygaga)  just recently took the top spot from Britney Spears (@britneyspears) and may reach the 6 million follower mark before anyone.  I still remember way back when Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) beat out CNN (@cnnbrk) to the first million followers way back in April of 2009 http://twarketing.com/2009/04/17/ashton-kutcher-beats-cnn-and-britney-to-1-millon-followers-on-twitter/

Now a days, you can’t even get into the top 25 on Twitterholics if you don’t have 2 million plus followers.

I think the next milestone for all that are caring to watch will be the first person or personality that gets to the 10 million follower mark. I am still personally routing for Oprah Winfrey (@oprah). All she has to do is tell her raving fans.. me included to follow her and get her to 10 million followers as a send off present to her last season on regular tv. Oprah is currently 8th on the list  at this posting with just over 4 million followers but I bet she could get to 10 million faster than anyone if she put her tweet mind to it.

Here is an idea. Oprah does her final show as a Tweetup and gives everyone in the audience there choice of an iPhone, Blackberry Torch or the coolest Android phone at the time. She then tells the audience in the studio and her audience at home that before the end of her live fair well show she wants to be number one on Twitter. I bet she could probably get to 20 million followers by the end of the show if all went according to plan.

The only other person that I would route for is Barack Obama (@BarackObama). Wouldn’t it be cool to see our President retake that top spot on Twitter by announcing that we are finally out of this recession and that our unemployment rate has dropped to less than 2 percent.  Yeah, I know like that is going to happen anytime soon. I guy could dream can’t he.

My dark horse in all of this 10 million or bust twitter follower stuff is little Justin Bieber (@JustinBieber). He is young enough to be my kid and I really don’t get the reason why he is so popular but his Twitter stock is on the rise and he could trump @ladygaga, @britneyspears, @oprah and the prez @BarackObama before it is all said and done.

If you have not seen them yet, you Will.  @isaiahmustafa the Old Spice Guy has taken @oldspice to new viral heights with over 5.9 million views on Youtube.  This campaign has taken the Old Spice Twitter account from 3271 followers on July 11th 2010 to over 77k followers at this present date. The Old Spice Guy has made over 180+ Youtube video responses to his Twitter followers. My favorite so far has to be the one he did for @mrskutcher and @biz.  The numbers don’t lie and will eventually create many copy cat type campaigns in due time.

Mr. Bill Gates @billgates is in the Twitter Building!!!  Social Media Guide @Mashable has reported that Twitter’s Caroline Mizumoto tweeted about Mr. Gates finally actively tweeting online. Word spread fast and Mr. Gates reached 100k followers in @oprah like speed. Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) is still at the top of the list at just over 4.3 million followers but Britney Spears (@britneyspears) is not that far behind him at 4.2+ followers. At the current pace of about 10k+ followers per hour Mr. Gates should reach the 1 million dollar club in a few days.  At this rate Mr. Gates will have more followers than his own @Microsoft_Xbox, @Microsoft, @Office_Live, @MicrosoftPress, @MSFTResearch, @Office and @SharePoint combined by lunch time on Wednesday, Jan 2oth.

So if you get the chance say hello to Mr. Gates. Who knows he might just follow you and donate millions of dollars to your cause…. NOT..;-) Welcome to the Twitterverse Mr. Gates. I look forward to following your updates.

If you have been a fan of the Late Show with David Letterman like I have been for years you know that he is not that computer savvy. So this was a monumental act for him. What he does not realize is that by doing this for the fist time himself he has just brought even more attention to his show than ever before.

The Late Show has had a Twitter account for The Late Show @Late_Show and has been up for some months now but Mr. Letterman had nothing to really do with it. Here is David Letterman’s first tweet. “Do you smell veal and peppers?”  More and more celebrities are seeing the potential power of Twitter.  Mr. Letterman had Actor Kevin Spacey on @KevinSpacey who said he only joined Twitter because his business manager said he should and now Kevin has just over 1.4 million followers.  Actors see Twitter as a direct connection to their adoring fan base.

So Mr. Letterman, Here are my Top 10 reasons why you should be on Twitter and Tweet more often.

Number 10. Twitter is fun, cool and hip and would impress all the young interns on your show.
Number 9. Jimmy Fallon @jimmyfallon has 2.3 million followers and you don’t want to let that young wipper snapper get the best you.
Number 8. Jay Leno of the Jay Leno Show @nbcjay has just over 20k followers and he just got a new show after leaving his old one.
Number 7. The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien @nbcconan has just over 20k followers and Conan just became the new host but is gaining ground on Jay’s new show.
Number 6. George Lopez of Lopez Tonight has 83k+ followers @georgeLopez and that show only started last month. So get with it Homes!
Number 5. Wanda Sykes has a new late night show that airs on Saturday nights and it does not have a Twitter account yet but Watchout when she does.
Number 4. Many of your day time show competition like Barbara Walters @BarbaraJWalters of  The View and Ellen DeGeneres @theEllenShow are killing you on Twitter with almost 4.5 million between them and they are women with blond hair.
Number 3. The Monique Show @TheMoNiqueshow is on BET and she even has over 15k followers. Oh No She Didn’t!
Number 2. Twitter is FREE for now.
And the number one reason David Letterman should be on Twitter and Tweet more often……….. The Arsenio Hall Show Just declared Twitter War on you and his show has been off the air since 1994.  Things that make you say HUMMMMMMM.
