Twitter Town Hall Gives President Barack Obama More Social Media Cred

Twitter Town Hall2 300x224 Twitter Town Hall Gives President Barack Obama More Social Media CredDid you watch the first Twitter Town Hall? I had it on my calendar but I was in a meeting with my new boss and co-workers. President Obama @BarackObama fielded a lot of questions about jobs and I for one am very very happy to get the opportunity to work again in an industry I so enjoy.

With that said, I wish I had been able to send in a question or two via Twitter to our President and ask a question about healthcare and the current state of the economy.  Many questions were asked on this subject and for the first time we got to see the actually Tweet and the President answering that question live.

Biz Stone @biz was a great facilitator of the first Twitter Town Hall @townhall. Even though he seemed a little nervous at first with the whole format. Heck, I know I would be nervous too if I was interviewing the President of the United States, at the White House using a new communication services that I helped create. Can you say “Fail Whale”..;-)

Biz was very quick to break the ice with President Obama and the audience when he made a slight joke  reminding the President that he only had 140 characters while he was typing his first live Tweet on camera to his  almost 9 million followers.

I am so very impressed with both Twitter and the President for doing this that I am going to step up my blogging efforts here on Twarketing. I believe Twitter has not even scratched the surface of what they are ultimately capable of doing with this new form of communication to the masses.

Take a look at the Twitter Town Hall and give me some of your feed back in the comments below.

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

twitter linkedin Reid Hoffman and Biz Stone talk Twitter On LinkedinIf you have not added your Twitter account to your Linkedin profile now is the time.
Linkedin and Twitter have official partnered and it is about to make a big dent in the Social Networking space.

Not only can you now have multiple Twitter accounts added to your Linkedin profile but all hashtags are now recognized. So please use #twarketing if you post this article to your Twitter feed. The only thing I suggest is that you don’t post all of your Tweets to your Linkedin account. When setting up your Twitter account on Linkedin use the selection that allows you to only post the tweets with “Share only tweets that contain #in” hashtag. Take a look at what Reid and Biz below have to say and let me know your thoughts.

Biz Stone & Tavis Smiley Talk About How Twitter Will Make Money

Biz Tavis 300x166 Biz Stone & Tavis Smiley Talk About How Twitter Will Make Money

This was an interesting conversation between Christopher (Biz) Stone (@biz) and PBS Show host  Tavis Smiley (@tavissmiley).  I have been saying all along that Twitter should not concentrate on the advertising dollars but on the companies and corporations who are making money on Twitter.  Corporations like Dell, BestBuy, Jetblue and Zappos have made millions from their F_R_E_E Twitter accounts. 3 Million Dollars, Dell And A PayPal “Donate” Button I for one would not mind paying for a premium account from Twitter, especially if you gave me a way to organize the people who followed me and gave me Google like analytics as well. I still think Twitter should also consider making money on  major events like the NFL’s Super Bowl,  the PGA’s Masters and major elections. Twitter’s New Election 2008: Twitter Branding At It’s Best As Twitter grows it will have ample opportunity to make money, I just hope to be a part of that money making process when it happens.

All the best
